Rural Well Water Testing

Rural well water testing

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) has established permanent sites across Ottawa where well owners can drop off their water samples and pick up new bottles for future testing. This makes it more convenient for residents living on residential well systems to have their well water tested for free. The Eastern Ontario Health Unit website offers a list of drop-off sites, as well as times when water samples are accepted. You may also pick up water sample bottles for future testing.

This service will be provided year round and testing is conducted for bacteria only.  People who wish to test their water for the presence of other substances such as chemicals or minerals will need to send their sample to a private lab.

For Cumberland residents, the closest EOHU is located at 2229 Laurier St., Suite 200.
