Appalachian Trail - Walk to Remember Presentation

Friday, April 29, 2016 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm
  • Maple Hall - 2552 Old Montreal Road, Cumberland
  • Cost: $5/person (all proceeds to the Alzheimer Society)

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk away from your life for a few months? Well that is what Anda and Arlene did on March 9th 2015 when they set out on the 3,523km Appalachian Trail. They started at the top of Springer Mountain just outside of Atlanta, Georgia and 151 days (5 months) later they arrived at the top of Mt. Katahdin in Maine. What an epic journey and adventure.

Prior to departing they decided to dedicate their walk to Anda's mother, who died with dementia in 2009, and committed to raising money for the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa Renfrew. To date they have raised over $30,000.

Anda and Arlene are very grateful for the support they received from people in more than 8 countries, who followed their progress, encouraged them along the way and supported their cause. They would very much like to give back and invite anyone who would like to come to this evening of reflecting on their adventures; the challenges, the highs and the lows and the lessons learned, showing their equipment and sharing a highly motivating slideshow. Friends are providing baked goodies and coffee and tea will be served. Donations welcome. The Alzheimer Society will provide envelopes for anyone who wishes to make a donation of more than $20 and receive a tax receipt.

Come and Live the adventure!
