For the past ten years the residents of Orléans, Cumberland and Blackburn Hamlet have been able to celebrate Canada Day with their families and neighbours at the Greater Orléans Canada Day Celebration on Petrie Island. In years past, the Greater Orléans Canada Day Celebration has drawn well over 20,000 people from across the region. They come to Petrie Island to celebrate Canada’s birthday in a fun and safe environment that is devoid of the hustle and bustle normally associated with events downtown. Our organizing committee prides itself on putting together an event that stresses community and family spirit. In that vein we are dependent on help from numerous volunteers and community organizations and businesses to assist in sponsorship and donations.
This year as a fundraising effort we will be hosting a Canadian Trivia Night which will take place at the Orleans Legion 800 Taylor Creek Saturday January 24, 2015 from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. the cost is $150 per table max 8 people or $25 per person. Over 8 the extra people will form another team. Registration begins at 6:15 p.m. one person per team to register all names.
This will be a night of fun, challenges and prizes. Cash bar! This is a great opportunity to get involved and support your community.
There is no better event, nor larger audience, in the east end. Celebrating Canada Day on Petrie Island has become a family tradition for thousands of people in Orléans. With your participation and commitment we can keep this tradition alive.
