The Dale's Cemetery Annual Memorial Service has been going for at least 50 years
(Cumberland Village - June 14, 2015) Every year, during the warm weather, many of the small communities in our area (Navan, Bearbrooke, etc.) celebrate annual memorial services in their cemeteries to honour the many souls who are lying in their final resting place. Cumberland Village is no exception. The Dale's Cemetery Memorial Service has been going for over 50 years, according to local historian Jeannie Smith.
In years past, area resident Reverend Ernie Cox, now retired from the First Avenue Baptist Church, has been conducting the Dale's Memorial and has been doing so for some 25 years.
This year, Reverend Robert Merritt, Minister at Cumberland's St.
Andrew's United Church will be officiating. He says the Service will be held "rain or shine". In the event of rain the service will be held in the church at the Cumberland Museum.
You are asked to bring your lawn chairs and participate in the hymns and readings. "Special music" will be provided. The address is: 2960 Old Montreal Road.
